Silver Fox Coaches adds a new Irizar i6 integral

Silver Fox Coaches of Renfrew has taken delivery of a 12.9m, 57-seat Irizar i6 integral, supplied by Irizar UK.

Each passenger benefits from a three-point seatbelt and the coach also comes with USB charging points and a centre sunken toilet.

The i6 integral has been specified in PSVAR ready condition to protect residual values. That preparation includes an additional passenger door behind the front axle and adjustments to the luggage bay door below to accommodate a lift.

Entertainment comes from a Bosch Smart Series audio system and an Actia DVD player, with a single monitor at the front of the saloon.

Power is provided by a DAF MX-11 engine developing 367bhp coupled to a ZF Traxon automated manual gearbox. The i6 integral has been finished in Silver Fox Coaches’ metallic grey livery and it is set off by polished alloy wheels and a cherished registration mark.

Asset Alliance Group names Robert Gwynn in development role

Robert Gwynn has been appointed Strategic Development Manager by Asset Alliance Group as the funder looks to grow its deployment of alternatively fuelled vehicles.

Mr Gwynn joins from Volta Trucks, where has was Policy and Public Affairs Manager. He brings experience of policy analysis and lobbying campaigns in the transport industry, and with Asset Alliance will be responsible for developing strategy around the transition of the supplier’s vehicle fleet from diesel to what it terms “renewable alternative fuels.”

An immediate priority for Mr Gwynn will be the delivery of fresh insights on alternative fuel technologies and government policy, driving developments to advance Asset Alliance’s ambitions around decarbonisation.

Speaking about the appointment, Asset Alliance Group Willie Paterson says: “Rob joins us at a pivotal moment in the company’s journey towards decarbonisation. By harnessing his expertise in environmental and sustainability issues, we will be better equipped to meet the changing needs of our customers.”

Mr Gwynn notes that Asset Alliance is “keenly aware of the importance that greener fuels have in a more sustainable future for the transport sector.” He adds that financing of vehicles is a significant challenge in transport decarbonisation, and that the funder has “a huge part to play” in enabling operators to move towards a greener future.

The insight work to be developed by Mr Gwynn will be coupled to efforts with vehicle manufacturers so that Asset Alliance can determine what assets it requires on its books, “ensuring that we offer expert advice to our own customers on how alternative fuels can fit in with their own sustainability plans,” he concludes.

Euro Bus Expo 2024 Welcomes Presentation Proposals

Euro Bus Expo, the premier trade show for the coach and bus sector, returns to the NEC Birmingham on 12-14 November 2024.

The show's free-to-attend Masterclass Theatre serves as a dynamic platform for stakeholders to provide updates, present findings, share experiences, and explore solutions to industry challenges.

A new approach to programme creation

This year, for the first time, the organisers are inviting presentation proposals from the industry, encouraging all interested parties to be a part of the conversation, share their expertise, and influence the trajectory of the sector.

Says Helen Conway, Event Director: “Euro Bus Expo has always been the go-to platform for discovering what's new and next in the coach and bus sector. This year, due to popular demand, we're inviting speaker proposals to shape the show content. We strongly believe that diverse perspectives, on-the-ground experiences, shared best practices, and thought-provoking debates are crucial elements for an enriching experience”.

“This is a unique opportunity for operators and suppliers to contribute to a community-driven event that leaves a lasting impact on the sector as a whole. This new approach to creating the programme reflects our commitment to creating an inclusive platform at Euro Bus Expo.”

Diverse presentation themes and formats

Presentation proposals are invited until 30 June, under eight programme themes. These include looking ahead, investing in our people, fleets of the future / sustainable travel, funding and finance, cities and transport, operations and compliance, back to basics, and innovation.

Presentations should help visiting operators to grasp changes in attitudes or upcoming trends, tackle a challenge in their business, improve a practice or process, learn about legislative or regulatory updates, or to plan for a project or business development. They should aim to foster meaningful conversations and learning, and are to be shared in an educational, non-commercial, and non-self-promotional manner.

Each proposal will be confidentially reviewed by a panel of operators and industry professionals, who will consider factors such as quality, originality, relevance, and interest to the audience. Proposals with overt commercial intent will not be considered for the Euro Bus Expo stage.

Feedback and invitations to present or participate in alternative content-sharing opportunities will be provided by July 31, 2024.

Selected presentations will contribute to a multifaceted programme designed to facilitate the exchange of ideas and information. The programme may encompass various activities such as keynote presentations, lightning talks, panel discussions, case studies, roundtables, workshops, fireside chats, interviews, and one-to-one clinics.
