As the business continues to accelerate into the 21st Century, Parksafe Group have officially launched a ‘Passenger Vehicle Division’ – focusing on the Bus and Coach sector in particular. No strangers to the automotive and commercial sector, we strongly believe that these areas have a lot of transferable technology with the Bus and Coach market, with many of our steadfast products directly ported over to PCV’s. Despite this fresh push, we already have previous experiencing working alongside Islebus.

Our experienced and knowledgeable Sales Team are driven by providing the right solution for the job, and if a fleet is having speeding issues, for example, we are able to put in place telematics systems that can help eliminate that.

Product Focus:

360-degree Bird’s Eye View Safety Camera System
Our 360-degree Bird’s Eye View system consists of four ultra-wide angle HD cameras which are mounted on all four sides of the vehicle; front, rear, left, right. The footage is then stitched together to create a LIVE 360-degree, birds eye view, all around the vehicle.

AI Side Detection System
We also offer a range of ultrasonic sensor systems including: Side Detection, Wireless and Rear sensors, which detects pedestrians and other objects surrounding the vehicle. Our AI Side Detection System, fitted to the vehicles flanks, is designed for nearside blind-spot safety when turning or manoeuvring at low speeds, helping the driver avoid cyclists and pedestrians, by providing audible and visual alarms when a potential hazard is detected.

Using 1080p camera monitors, this system provides a visual displaying how close the detected hazard is and the footage can be downloaded remotely, or viewed live.

Driver Fatigue Monitor System
Our cameras can also be installed facing the driver and are designed to recognise any signs of driver tiredness or distraction that could lead to an accident. When used alongside our live Parksafe on Demand platform, the Drive Fatigue Monitor System alerts the Fleet Manager of any potential hazards.

Fabric manufacturer Camira launches revolutionary digital print technology

In a year in which the global company celebrates its 200-year anniversary in transport textiles, Camira has signalled its commitment to remaining at the forefront of the industry with the introduction of the innovative Camira Print.

Perfectly complementing the manufacturer’s renowned weaving capabilities, the launch expands its offering to encompass digital printing – providing customers with an unparalleled level of flexibility and freedom when choosing the optimal textile for their bus or coach interior.

Revolutionary design potential
Removing many of the design constraints associated with traditional woven textiles, Camira Print fabrics can be created without restrictions on pattern repeats, scale, or colour, as well as significantly reducing lead times and minimum order quantities. With a variety of design options, customers also have the flexibility to choose from a range of readymade prints in standard colours, opt for custom colours, or create something entirely new - working with Camira’s in-house design studio to develop a totally bespoke creation.

Ciara Crossan, Transport Creative Manager at Camira, explains, “We’ve really worked hard to provide customers with a design option for every need. With the Camira Print collection, we have brought together a selection of carefully curated palettes and trend-led patterns to provide customers with a readymade range of printed fabrics which can be dispatched within days.

For those who would really like to push the boundaries in terms of creativity, there is truly no limit to what is possible with Camira Print – they can create immersive advertising campaigns, recreate photographs, go as big as they like in terms of scale, as bold as they like in terms of colour – this technology really does unlimit so much of what is restricted at the moment.”

Moquette fabric, made from wool
In an appealing blend of tradition and innovation, each Camira Print creation is applied to a lightweight moquette fabric – the construction on which Camira’s rich heritage is built. With a velour finish, the textile has been created exclusively for digital print and is woven from naturally sustainable wool to deliver saturated colour and comfort.

High technical performance
Meeting the industry’s key technical performance standards, Camira Print textiles achieve the European flammability regulation, ECE Reg 118.03, and the North American flammability regulation FMVSS 302. Indicating high durability, the newly launched textile capability also has an abrasion performance of over 100,000 rubs.

“A light shed moment for the industry.”
Peter Daly, Director of Transport Sales at Camira, comments on the launch, “We’re incredibly excited to introduce Camira Print to the transport market; not only is it a first for Camira, but also for the industry. Providing an unmatched level of design, colour and manufacturing freedom, customers can create truly unforgettable fabrics which it has just not been possible to create – until now. Truly a light shed moment for the transport industry, Camira Print will revolutionise the way in which fabrics are designed and made. We can’t wait to see the ways in which our customers use this new technology.

BYD ADL and Yutong in First Bus Scotland 74 EV order

First Bus has confirmed receipients of orders for 74 further battery-electric single-deck buses for its remaining fleets in Scotland.

The BYD ADL partnership will build 50 Enviro200EV examples for First Glasgow’s Scotstoun depot. Pelican Bus and Coach will supply 24 Yutong E12 models to First Aberdeen. The latter will be the first vehicles from Yutong for First in Scotland.

First has committed £35m to the 74 buses and their associated infrastructure, with the BYD ADL batch accounting for £19.7m and the Yutong deliveries £8.4m. In addition, £4.8m will be invested in Scotstoun and £2.1m in Aberdeen to install rapid charging points. That work is expected to take 12 months to complete, with the first buses to arrive in 2023.

A further £18.6m from the first round of the Scottish Zero Emission Bus challenge fund is going towards the vehicles and their infrastructure.

Completion of the delivery will see 50% of the First Aberdeen fleet become zero-emission. The Yutongs will operate there alongside two batches of Wrightbus StreetDeck Hydroliner hydrogen fuel cell-electric double-deckers. The 50 BYD ADL buses that form part of the latest order will take First’s operation in Glasgow to 40% battery-electric in conjunction with extensive work at its Caledonia depot.

First Bus Scotland Managing Director Duncan Cameron says the operator is “proud” of the progress it has already made on decarbonisation. The latest order represents a further significant step on the group’s quest to have an entirely zero-emission fleet by 2035. It follows hot on the heels of a deal struck with Wrightbus for 193 battery-electric buses for First Bus fleets in England.

Mr Cameron adds that modal shift will allow zero-emission buses to have a greater impact on emissions and air quality. “These state-of-the-art electric vehicles will provide a more pleasant journey for passengers, and we hope that they will encourage more people living in these cities to leave their cars behind in favour of bus travel.”
