Topics of interest
We’re open to talks that address any aspect of technology and innovation in the built environment.
DCW is not just about the build phase, we cover the entire built environment, architecture, engineering, construction, and operation.

The theatres
DCW's seminar theatres focus on specific aspects of digital construction.
Choose the one that best aligns with your expertise and session topic. (But be aware that you may not be placed on your first choice of stage.)

DIGITAL OPERATIONS STAGE
The Digital Operations Stage explores how digital technologies and processes are revolutionising the operation and maintenance of built assets. From digital twins and IoT to predictive maintenance and asset optimisation, this stage delves into how emerging technologies are unlocking new levels of efficiency, sustainability, and cost savings across the built environment.
Expect insightful sessions showcasing the latest innovations, from streamlining facility management to enhancing asset performance and resilience. Join industry experts as they share practical strategies, case studies, and cutting-edge solutions for integrating digital tools seamlessly into the lifecycle of infrastructure and facilities. Whether you're looking to optimise existing assets or future-proof operations, this stage provides the knowledge and inspiration to lead the way in digital transformation.

INFORMATION MANAGEMENT STAGE & EXCHANGE
The IMS is the place to inspire industry through the presentation of digital information management related project or process changes and benefits. Submissions should demonstrate real-world application of (B)IM and the business drivers behind it.
PLEASE NOTE: submissions will be judged on: Demonstration of well-considered use cases for (B)IM, including where applicable, whole asset life not just capital phase. Identification of improvements made over traditional processes. Details of the value of this improvement, including whether the improvement is social, functional, financial, or psychological (change management). Highlighted lessons learned. How the audience can learn more following the presentation. Use of standardised asset data created, rather than just 3D geometry.
It should be noted that we are not necessarily seeking ‘full’ case studies; thorough examples of one particular stage or task is equally valuable to attendees. Presentations extending into other digital initiatives such as Digital Twins, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), Robotics, PropTech and others are encouraged, but the focus should always be related to best practice implementation or examples of the (B)IM process as defined in ISO19650 or the UK BIM Framework.
Note: Being selected as a speaker on the IMS will automatically submit your presentation to nima for possible inclusion in their ‘success stories’ resource.
The IMx is a theatre to connect with and engage the audience in participatory educational sessions. Whether it’s gathering industry feedback, a workshop, an active learning session or a panel Q&A, the IMx is designed to be much more than a ‘sit back and listen’.
PLEASE NOTE: submissions will be judged on: Clear definition of the anticipated audience in terms of their experience and information management maturity. Well planned and defined outline of participatory aspects. Relevant and valuable topics. Clearly defined outcomes for attendees or industry. Relevance to the adoption of (B)IM processes.
Sessions extending into other digital initiatives such as Digital Twins, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), Robotics, PropTech and others are encouraged but the focus should always be related to best practice implementation or examples of the (B)IM process as defined in ISO19650 or the UK BIM Framework.

INNOVATION STAGE
Submissions for the Innovation Stage at DCW should demonstrate genuine innovation and radical thinking. We are particularly interested in the application of new technologies and thinking that can help solve some of the built environment’s biggest challenges. Submissions for the Innovation Stage should showcase technology at the cutting edge. Sessions should focus on the future of our built environment and explore topics including (but not limited to): IoT, cloud computing, robotics, artificial intelligence, automation, cryptocurrency, cyber security, additive manufacturing, computational design, wearable technology and more.

INSPIRE STAGE
The Inspire Stage is designed to broaden horizons and spark fresh ideas by exploring perspectives and innovations beyond the built environment. This is the place to hear from thought leaders, pioneers, and experts who bring insights from other industries, tackling universal challenges such as digital transformation, the psychology of change management, and the adoption of cutting-edge technologies like AI.
With a focus on creativity, collaboration, and inspiration, this stage delivers content that encourages attendees to think differently, adapt to change, and embrace new approaches. Whether it’s learning how other sectors have navigated disruption or discovering breakthrough innovations, the Inspire Stage is your destination for transformative ideas that can shape the future of the built environment and beyond.

PEOPLE & CHANGE THEATRE
The transformational nature of the digitalisation of the built environment requires focus in three key areas: people, process and technology. While historically DCW has focused on technology and process, the people side of change, best practice and what works in this area has not always received the same attention. Submissions for this theatre should focus on behavioural change and engagement throughout the built environment. We’ll be looking for case studies of change and what works to engage with people. We’d also like to hear your stories of behavioural changes, change management and how you’ve embraced new ways of working. Whether you’ve used technology to engage and communicate with staff. How you’ve embedded collaboration contractually, culturally, or financially in your business.
We’d also like to hear your strategies for diversity & inclusion and how you’ve created inclusive environments. We’re interested in sessions that share advice on how to be a male ally or how to build racial and gender inclusion. And we want to hear about wellbeing in the workplace, mental health first aid, psychological safety and how to create it.

TRANSFORMATION HUB
The Transformation Hub explores business transformation, with a focus on the practicalities of digitalisation. Our aim is to help companies and individuals embrace new ways of working by providing leadership and guidance on the implications of technology and innovation on their business. Submissions for this theatre should focus on strategy and practical guidance. Sessions should explore topics including (but not limited to): digitisation, digital strategy, business transformation, culture and collaboration, engaging with supply chain, partners and key stakeholders, innovation strategy, information management, winning work, project controls and EPR, emerging technologies (cloud, blockchain, big data, etc.) and more.

NET ZERO STAGE
Submissions for the Net Zero Stage, in partnership with ZERO, should focus on how digital tools, methods, and skills are improving the performance of projects and leading to lower emissions. Sessions should explore material selection, construction plant, equipment, labour, and transport and the role of technology and digitalisation in these areas. Submission should be focused on the following areas: Leadership Design Measurement Innovation People Digital Construction.

TABLE TALKS
Table Talks is your opportunity to dive deep into innovation and technology shaping the built environment through dynamic, interactive roundtable discussions. Each session is hosted by an expert moderator who will guide conversations, encourage participation, and ensure a collaborative exchange of ideas.
Designed for active engagement, these sessions break away from traditional presentations, giving attendees the chance to contribute their perspectives, share experiences, and ask questions in an open, inclusive environment. Whether discussing emerging technologies, tackling industry challenges, or brainstorming solutions, Table Talks is where ideas come to life and everyone has a seat at the table.
Join us to explore the future of the built environment, one conversation at a time.
Session format
Don’t limit your submissions to a standard presentation. To make your session really stand out, consider a more interactive format.

What you need to apply
There’s just a few things you need to prepare for the application form:
- Session title (max 10 words) – keep it concise and impactful to grab visitors’ attention
- Preferred theatre – take a look at the criteria in the drop downs above and decide which stage your session is best suited to (you can select up to two options)
- Detailed session description (500-750 words) – tell us what people will learn from your session, why it's important, and what makes it stand out. Will you provide a case study or testimonial? Will you use facts, figures, or research to support your presentation? What format will your session take; presentation, workshop, debate, live demo, Q&A? Sessions are expected to last approximately 25 minutes.
- Session blurb (200 words) – this should be a shorter, snappier version of your detailed summary. This is the text that will be used on the website and in marketing materials. It should encourage visitors to attend and explain what they'll get out of your session.
- Three key learning points – think about three key things your audience will learn and be able to take away with them
- Name, job title, and company of the proposed speaker(s)
- A high-resolution headshot (jpg or png) of the speaker(s)
- Speaker bio (150 words) – this should relate to their area of expertise and experience in the topic they will cover
