We spoke with Hannah Schragmann, Transparency Manager, Grow My Tree
Hannah is A Strategy Consultant at Ørsted and a PhD student in Business Ethics. She also holds a Master of Science degree in International Business and Politics, with a focus on climate policy.
What are a few main takeaways from your session at the show?
Businesses can be active accelerators for doing good by inspiring their customers to plant trees. Tree gifting changes the game!
Restoring ecosystems does not only serve the environment, but also the people and the economics in the Global South, thereby contributing to all pillars (people, planet, profit) of sustainable development.
There is no one-size-fits-all standard to evaluate the sustainability of tree planting projects – every project needs to be tailored to specific local needs, both in terms of biodiversity fit and in terms of involvement of the local population.
What one person or business in the natural, organic/sustainable industry do you really admire and why?
There are too many to name just one – I admire all green and social entrepreneurs who believe in their approach, who have a vision and who are willing to take a risk to make things better and greener.
What do you see as key trends for eco & organic products in the coming year?
Streamlining sustainability and CO2 neutrality throughout the whole supply chain.
How important is Natural Beauty & Health Show /Nordic Organic Food Fair to you/the industry?
Super important since it connects organizations with the same vision and builds an ecosystem of sustainability!
What’s the best advice you’ve ever been given?
Be the leader you wish you had.
Who or what inspires you to be even better?
Collective action, made possible by communication and collaboration – understanding that there are so many people out there engaged for a common goal.
Tell us a fun fact about yourself that most people don’t know.
When I grew up, I took care of piglets with disabilities at my granddad’s farm. Pigs are still my favourite animals!
