Doors open at 10am tomorrow at the NEC Birmingham
The foodservice, hospitality and catering industry will be out in force in Birmingham this week, as Commercial Kitchen, the UK’s leading trade event for kitchen equipment, service and design, returns to the NEC.
Doors will open at 10am tomorrow morning to a host of catering equipment buyers, specifiers, distributors, designers, installers, and consultants from around the UK. Over the two days (4-5 June) they’ll have an exclusive opportunity to see the latest innovations from over 100 leading exhibitors from across the industry, including everything required to run, refurbish or build a commercial kitchen.

Free keynote seminar programme
Opening day highlights from the show’s free seminar programme include an exclusive live interview with Mos Shamel, CEO of Las Iguanas; The Pub & Bar Kitchen Panel (featuring The Alchemist’s Seamus O’Donnell and Greene King’s Craig Brookfield); and PAPA’s Italian Restaurant Kitchen Panel (featuring Prezzo’s Paul Lewis and Emilia’s Crafted Pasta founder Andrew Macleod). Plus there’s expert-led panel discussions on hospital and care home kitchens, multi-site kitchens, maintenance, operations teams, and executive chefs with industry leaders from wagamama, Las Iguanas, Loungers, Chiquito, Tottenham Hotspur, Harrow School, Peach Pub Company, Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust, and more.

Innovation Challenge Awards
UNOX UK, Jestic Foodservice Equipment, Cibo, Kingspan Water & Energy, Synergy Grill, and Regale Microwave Ovens, are among the leading suppliers whose newest products are in the running for this year’s Innovation Challenge Awards. Voting takes place tomorrow at the Innovation Challenge Gallery, starting when the show opens at 10am and running until 4pm.
The exhibitors who have secured the most votes by the end of day one will be invited to pitch their products at the second day of the show. Pitches start at 11.15am in Keynote Theatre 2 on Wednesday 5th June, with the results to be announced back in the theatre at 3.45pm.
This year’s judging panel includes Phil Shelley, immediate past chair of the Hospital Caterers Association; Simon Woplin, head of innovation at Ambassador Theatre Group; Mark Kendall, commercial director at cedabond; Jack Sharkey, managing director at Vision Commercial Kitchens; and chef and food consultant Jay Morjaria.
