Meet Ben Perrie, the newest addition to our sales team. Ben is based in the Brighton office, he is a Sales Manager for GEO Business.
Tell us a bit about your work background
My role at Diversified Communications is Sales Manager for GEO Business. The geospatial event for everyone involved in the gathering, storing, processing & delivery of geospatial information.
Tell us a bit about yourself
Before I got into the exhibition industry, I spent many years abroad working as a Holiday Rep for Thomas Cook in Spain, Turkey & Greece. It was a great life experience being the face of the company, ensuring people from all walks of life have an unforgettable holiday experience, however, it’s not all like it appears in the TV shows, lots of early mornings, unhappy customers, and hotel managers to keep onside.
Benidorm was my favourite resort as I had the responsibility for the Solana Resort where the Benidorm TV Series is filmed, they film at a real hotel called the Sol Pelicanos and I had many good nights out with all the TV cast, even beating Johnny Vegas at a darts competition which he did not take very well!
After all those years aboard, it was time to knuckle down and I soon found my feet in the events industry, an industry that I have a huge passion for and that I can never see myself doing anything else.
The first event I launched was the Cruise Ship Interior Design Expo in Miami which certainly had its perks when it came to international travel! Following on from the success of that show we then geo-cloned the event into Barcelona for the European market.
What attracted you to work at Diversified?
I was attracted to Diversified by the reputation it has in the industry as one of the UK’s most trusted, respected, and successful trade show organisers and publishers.
I’ve been here just over two weeks now and have settled into the team like I’ve been here forever! All the team are hugely talented and passionate in what they do, and that is truly reflected in the culture!
Tell us a fun fact about yourself
In my spare time, nothing gives me more enjoyment than hitting the south downs on my mountain bike, I’m a big advocate for anything outdoorsy with recently getting into Metal Detecting, I’ve not found anything significant yet however, it only takes that one find to strike it rich!
