Accountex – the UK’s flagship accounting and finance conference and expo – has teamed up with global accounting association ACCA, Practice Ignition, and Generation CFO to launch a new, free Virtual Summit next month.
Taking place over 13-14 May (the same dates Accountex was due to run before being moved to new dates in November), this important initiative comes as a direct response to the ongoing Covid-19 crisis. Created to help unite the community it serves, the accounting and finance summit will deliver a world-class conference experience online – enabling participating industry CFOs and accountants to benefit from a series of insight-led webinars and videos offering regulatory guidance, essential skills and case studies from some of the profession’s top influencers.
The Virtual Accounting Summit on day one (13 May) will focus on the current challenges facing accountants in practice, providing vital advice and business support for them and their clients. While the Virtual Finance Summit on day two (14 May) is devoted to accountants working in business and finance. From people to processes to tech, topics include managing the business impact of the coronavirus (including the job retention scheme), controlling cashflow, utilising communication tools, tax and compliance updates, safeguarding the mental health and wellbeing of employees, and, of course, best-guess predictions on what’s next for the profession (once restrictions soften and are lifted).
Jason Hinkle, head of member engagement at ACCA Europe & Americas, says: “Creating something so impressive in such a short period of time, that will really support and guide the profession through such a challenging period, has been remarkable. Bringing four key industry organisations together, that all wanted to help, shows the strength of our connections and community.”
Zoe Lacey-Cooper, Accountex’s portfolio director, says: “This is such an exciting joint venture project for the Accountex team to be a part of. Helping to bring the accountancy profession together is what we do best, so it’s fantastic to be able to collaborate with leading minds – our content curators – Jason Hinkle from ACCA Global, Trent McLaren from Practice Ignition, and Generation CFO’s Christopher Argent to launch a virtual hub of ideas, innovation, inspiration and perhaps a little escapism too.
“The lives and livelihoods of so many people have been hugely affected by events of the last few months, with no clear end in sight. This is our way of giving something back to support our industry. Over 500 people and counting have already pre-registered their interest in joining us for the summit. And we haven’t even announced the speakers or content line-up yet!
“Expect some big headline reveals in the coming weeks!”
